Welcome: How This Whole System Works
Welcome to Plan Your Passing: The Family Guide. Before you read the book, take 90 seconds to understand how this platform works, because the book is one part of a system that does a lot more.
What you have access to
Plan Your Passing is three things: a book, a community, and a set of free interactive tools. They reinforce each other. Use them in this order.
1. Read the book
That is what you are doing now. 30 chapters covering every angle of estate planning: the conversations, the documents, the executor work, the tax considerations, the family dynamics, the day-it-actually-happens reality. Read straight through, or jump to the chapter that matches what you are facing right now.
2. Use the tools as you read
The book references our free interactive tools throughout. When you read about a will in Chapter 2, you can open the will builder and draft yours in 10 minutes. When you read about advance directives in Chapter 4, the advance directive builder is one click away. The same goes for the power of attorney builder, the probate cost calculator, the funeral cost calculator, the estate inventory tool, and the beneficiary audit. They are free during launch and they stay free for founding members forever.
3. Share what fits
Most chapters apply to your family in some way. As you read, mark the sections that match a parent, sibling, or spouse who needs to read them too. The platform was built to be shared. Send links. Forward chapters. Family members in different cities can read the same chapter at the same time and have the conversation it teaches.
4. Take the conversation offline
Reading and tools alone are not enough. The point of all this is the family conversation. Every chapter ends with a What to do this week action checklist. Do the action. The book is the warm-up. The conversation is the main event.
How to read the book
Three formats. Pick whatever fits your life.
- Read it on the web. Right here. The first 10 pages are free for anyone. Founding members read the rest free for life. Buyers ($19.99 one-time) get lifetime access.
- Listen to it. Each chapter has narrated audio. Download the full book as an M4B audiobook for Apple Books, Voice Aloud, or any audiobook player. Or subscribe to the podcast feed in Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
- Download the PDF. Print it. Mark it up. Share it with family. Founding members and book buyers both get the PDF download.
A quick orientation
I am Roger Daniel Grubb. I am a licensed realtor who has been in the room when a hundred families have tried to settle estates. I have also been a recovery sponsor for 21 years, which means I have sat through a lot of hard conversations. The book is plain English. No legalese. I am not a lawyer. That is the point. Where you need a lawyer, the book and the platform tell you so and help you find a good one.
Ready when you are. The next page is the front matter. After that, the introduction. After that, Chapter 1: The Conversation You Have Been Avoiding. That is where most families get stuck. We start there.
Use the navigation buttons at the bottom of each chapter to move forward, or jump straight to any chapter from the table of contents.
