The model, in plain English

Why this is free for families.

The short answer: families never pay to figure out grief. Professionals pay to serve families well. Both groups get more value than they pay for. That's the whole model.

The premise

Nobody else built the family-side resource.

Search “estate planning” and you'll find thousands of law-firm pages telling you to call them. Search “what do I do when my mom dies” and you'll find almost nothing useful — a few generic post-death checklists, mostly from funeral homes trying to sell pre-need.

The whole family-side of estate planning — the conversation with your parents, the sibling fight you're trying to prevent, the first 72 hours, the inherited-house decision tree, the digital-asset plan — was unserved.

Roger has been a licensed California realtor for fifteen years. He's been in the room for hundreds of estate settlements. He'd watch families struggle through the exact same conversations — without scripts, without a playbook — and lose relationships over assets they didn't even care about.

He built Plan Your Passing because that resource had to exist. He gave it away because charging the family for it would defeat the point.

The math

How this is sustainable.

For every 10,000 free families using the site, a handful become buyers — the $19.99 book covers their cost. A smaller handful join the community. A handful of professionals serving the same kind of families subscribe to the partner program. That's enough.

The bet is that the highest-leverage move in this industry is making the family layer free. Once families have the resource they need, the professionals who serve them — estate attorneys, CPAs, advisors, realtors — actually want to be associated with Plan Your Passing. They pay for the connection. Families never pay for the connection.

The economics work because aligned-incentive businesses always do, eventually. Trust monetizes for decades. Ad revenue monetizes for months.

“The legal industry built tools for documents. We build the system around the documents: the conversation, the scenarios, the playbook for the day it actually happens.”
